Micro port is a mixed-use complex in downtown Columbus, OH. The site is located at the historical Greyhound station. The program requires to house residential, commercial, retail and parking programs.
The mega block of commercial and retail is broken into halves by the pedestrian alley that crosses the site. Family housings at the edge of this pedestrian alley provides the young families both the advantages of a family neighborhood and the liveliness of the downtown.
Micro Port also targets millennials. The millennials are forced to sacrifice the quality of life if they choose to live in downtown areas. But at Micro Port, they are given the chance to experience privacy and quietness of the suburbs in their luxury micro unit penthouses high in the sky in the heart of the busy downtown.
Raising the micro units up in the sky, creates the opportunity to design a mega roof garden that all the inhabitants working or living in downtown can use and enjoy.
