Awareness can free the lives of a marginalized population. Human trafficking leaves victims paralyzed in fear to seek help through fear of being watched. Our intervention allows community and victims of human trafficking to come to the square without the threat of being singled out. Maintaining the square free of function, as it has been for the past hundred years, the street festivals, farmers markets, and religious gatherings can happen organically. The freedom of curiosity is the emphasis of our site interjection. The pit of hands, emerging out of the shackles of slavery and the escape tower, becomes the media to educate the masses.
Once again, remind the community to come together at this historical square and celebrate their culture and traditions. Remind them to find the courage to reveal the untold, yet the not hidden truth trapped in the layers of their community and provide them with the opportunity to take the stairs to freedom to experience a world bigger than themselves.
